How to choose the right colour for bifolds?

To find and identify the most suitable colour for bifolds, we use RAL colour system.

The history of RAL colour system goes back to 1925, when RAL organisation was founded by Germans. RAL stands for Reichsausschuß für Lieferbedingungen und Gütesicherung, translated loosely as National Commission for Delivery Terms and Quality Assurance.

When they started, the general idea was to create a system of colours to help builders navigate through, and easily select the appropriate option. In the beginning, it used to be 40 colours only, but it expanded and nowadays it is around 2328 different colour and their shades.

Which colours are the most popular?

Our most popular colour for bifolds is definitely antrahcite grey at the moment, closely followed by traffic white. It will be interesting to see if these trends change, and how quickly will they change, as black colour is making its comeback nowadays.

Grey versus White

Am I limited to those colour?

Absolutely not. You can choose literally any colour you want. But what you need to keep in mind is that the colour can look a bit different on your screen, and on your door. RAL is as accurate as possible, with hundreds of options available, but the final product may appear a different shade. If you look at the same colour on your computer screen, and on your mobile screen, you can sometimes see a bit of a difference.

What we recommend is, especially if you want a fancy new colour, to give us a shout and pop here for a quick chat, as we have the palettes available. That way you can easily imagine how your bifolds would look like.

Is there any difference in price and lead time with different colour?

Short anwer, yes. There is a difference. With white and grey being the most used and popular ones, we have materials here, ready to assemble your bifolds. Any other colour, we need to order aluminium sprayed by the said colour, so the lead time can go from 2 weeks up to 10 weeks.

There is also a difference in price, but it is not as steep as you may think. It all depends on the measurements and extras you’d like with your bifolds.

Another big game changer in price and lead time are internal blinds, which we can also install to your bifolds. If you’d like to have a look why internal blinds are an amazing combination with bifolds, you can look here. We have quite a few options for internal blinds colours available for you to choose from. If you have grey bifolds, you can easily go for the same-colour blinds and make it look even more elegant, or you can check out other colours and go for a bit of a unique look. Even though colour palette for blinds is not as vibrant as for bifolds, there are some incredible combinations you can create.
